True Feelings on the Rooftop

September 5, 2026Author: HNF

Ha-neul hesitated in front of the rooftop door.

“Really, what does he want to talk about today…?” she muttered, her heart pounding.

When she pushed the door open, Tae-oh was leaning on the railing, looking like a lost puppy pretending to be cool. He grinned when he saw her.

“Wow, you actually showed up! I was half expecting you to run away, so I set up camp out here.”

Ha-neul cleared her throat as she walked over.

“Run away? Do I look like someone who runs away from conversations?”

Tae-oh shrugged playfully.

“Last time, we got interrupted. I didn’t want to miss my chance again.”

They stood side by side, the breeze making the silence feel almost dramatic.

“Honestly, when I’m on stage with you, things feel weird. About that… past life stuff—do you feel it too?”

Tae-oh nodded.

“Yeah. It’s like, I remember being enemies with you… but sometimes, it just feels like an excuse.”

Ha-neul blinked, caught off guard.

“Excuse?”

With a mischievous flick, Tae-oh tapped her forehead.

“Yeah. Maybe the real reason I’m always thinking about you, and my mood swings every time you say something, is because… I like you. There, I said it.”

Ha-neul blushed so red she could have lit up the city.

“W-What are you saying? Are you trying to confess or something?”

Tae-oh laughed.

“If it is a confession, do you think you could answer me?”

Ha-neul turned to face the wind, gripping the railing tight.

“I… I’m confused too. Why I can’t stop thinking about you, and why the past life flashes only happen with you. But…”

Tae-oh edged closer.

“But what?”

Just then, the rooftop door slammed open. Su-jin and Ji-min burst in, looking like detectives who just found their suspects.

“Ah, knew you’d be up here! Next schedule starts now!”

The mood snapped like a broken guitar string. Ha-neul and Tae-oh looked at each other.

“Let’s… talk more next time,” Ha-neul whispered shyly.

Tae-oh gave her a lopsided, disappointed smile. And just like that, chance slipped away again as they left the rooftop together.
